Edge highlighting cold blues
Cold blues live or die on the transitions. I start from a desaturated mid-blue base, thinned heavily and built in two or three passes so the surface stays smooth.
Two glaze passes then re-establish the shadows in the recesses without muddying the mid-tone. Only after that do I cut in the edge highlight — thin, deliberate, and stopping short of a full outline so it reads as light rather than a drawn line.
Finally a sparse chipping layer along the hardest edges keeps the armour from looking too clean for a model that is supposed to have seen a warzone.
